ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon! i‘m very glad to stand here and give you a short /00/l/lm626.jpg" alt="中学生比赛英语演讲稿">
it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ;
it is the freshness of the deep springs of life . youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals. years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust . whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ?s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what‘s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart there‘s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young . when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. thank you!

everybody attention
so now i'd like to share with you what's in my suitcase today. guess what? books. i have a suitcase full of books. here's margaret atwood, “cat's eye.“ here's a novel by milan kundera. and here's “the guide for the perplexed“ by maimonides. but these are not exactly my books. i brought these books with me because they were written by my grandfather's favorite authors.
my grandfather was a rabbi and he was a widower who lived alone in a small apartment in brooklyn that was my favorite place in the world when i was growing up, partly because it was filled with his very gentle, very courtly presence and partly because it was filled with books. i mean literally every table, every chair in this apartment had yielded its original function to now serve as a surface for swaying stacks of books. just like the rest of my family, my grandfather's favorite thing to do in the whole world was to read.
but he also loved his congregation, and you could feel this love in the sermons that he gave every week for the 62 years that he was a rabbi. he would takes the fruits of each week's reading and he would weave these intricate tapestries of ancient and humanist thought. and people would come from all over to hear him speak.
but here's the thing about my grandfather. underneath this ceremonial role, he was really modest and really introverted -- so much so that when he delivered these sermons, he had trouble making eye contact with the very same congregation that he had been speaking to for 62 years. and even away from the podium, when you called him to say hello, he would often end the conversation prematurely for fear that he was taking up too much of your time. but when he died at the age of 94, the police had to close down the streets of his neighborhood to accommodate the crowd of people who came out to mourn him. and so these days i try to learn from my grandfather's example in my own way.

i have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
wow, what a dream it has been for martin luther king. but the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes i personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
however, we meed dreams. they nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. they keep us going. most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. when we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. however, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. so my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

good evening,ladies and gentlemen:
thank you very much for choosing to e in such a cold night.today my topic is about choice and process.a research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one day.with so many choices one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life. in my opinion, the following part is of much more importance than the choice. there is no absolute right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the difference. life is a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get.
forrest gump made no decision by and for himself but he acplished great success with his strong will in the process. the process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings, the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. take myself as an example,i changed my major when i became a postgraduate. after the choice, days have been harsh for me.i cannot understand the new lessons at all.
for they are closely related to mathmatics which i learned nothing about before. however wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,i persisted.
i asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life. gradually i could understand some parts and even found maths interesting.moreover,
i learned to act instead of plaining. in retrospect, the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months bees an unforgetable experience in my life. no matter what the choice is,enjoy the process. in the process, your potential will be inspired and new discoveries, improvement and progress will e to you.
these are the most beautiful sceneries and only on the way can you see it.these make your life colorful.
there is no need and i donnot want to judge whether it right or wrong for me to be here, but i congratulate to myself for i gain and enjoy this fantastic experience. so my dear friends, never worry about your choice and enjoy the process. i am sure you will get something new and intersting tonight after you chose to e here. thank you!

hello, everyone. good afternoon. thank you for giving me this opportunity to talk about my top concern. i'm no.26, i'll talk about friend.
everyone of us,rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. my friend will listen to me when i want to speak, will help me when i need, will take care of me when i am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.
when i was ten, i was suddenly confronted with the anguish of transferring to other school. i had to left my friends i had ever known. as a kid,i feel lonely when i study in a new environment without a person i had known. nobody i could talk, nobody could know when i feel lonely. the time when i couldn't sleep, i'll always miss them, then the tears filled my eyes.
later, i became familar with the environment ,and made some friends ,which became my best friends then. they talked with me when i felt lonely, they helped me when i needed, they took care of me when i was sick. even through we were part, we still keep in touch with each other.
in our whole lives,we'll meet too much people but only a few can be our best friends. when staying with them,we can release ourself completely. we can do whatever we want, we can laugh together, talk together, and even cry together. i should say that being together with our best friends is the most wonderful moment of our lives.
but in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. more and more people forget to enjoy the beauty of friendship. they work hard in order to gain a higher position in the society and to earn more money for their work. they have few time to share with their friends. with the time goes by, they will be far away from each other.
friend is kind of treasure in our lives. it's actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. it also likes a cup of hot tea, when we are in bed time, it will warm our broken hearts.
friends, especially best friends. it is what we should have in our lives, and it can make our lives be colorful go beyond our imagination.
thanks for your listening. this is what i concerned.

so i just published a book about introversion, and it took me about seven years to write. and for me, that seven years was like total bliss, because i was reading, i was writing, i was thinking, i was researching. it was my version of my grandfather's hours of the day alone in his library. but now all of a sudden my job is very different, and my job is to be out here talking about it, talking about introversion. (laughter) and that's a lot harder for me, because as honored as i am to be here with all of you right now, this is not my natural milieu.
so i prepared for moments like these as best i could. i spent the last year practicing public speaking every chance i could get. and i call this my “year of speaking dangerously.“ (laughter) and that actually helped a lot. but i'll tell you, what helps even more is my sense, my belief, my hope that when it comes to our attitudes to introversion and to quiet and to solitude, we truly are poised on the brink on dramatic change. i mean, we are. and so i am going to leave you now with three calls for action for those who share this vision.
number one: stop the madness for constant group work. just stop it. (laughter) thank you. (applause) and i want to be clear about what i'm saying, because i deeply believe our offices should be encouraging casual, chatty cafe-style types of interactions -- you know, the kind where people come together and serendipitously have an exchange of ideas. that is great. it's great for introverts and it's great for extroverts. but we need much more privacy and much more freedom and much more autonomy at work. school, same thing. we need to be teaching kids to work together, for sure, but we also need to be teaching them how to work on their own. this is especially important for extroverted children too. they need to work on their own because that is where deep thought comes from in part.

good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends.
i'm lai senhan from the university of international business & economics. do you know what date is it today? today is the olympic date. i'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about beijing olympic games together with you all. the title of my speech is: what can we do for beijing olympic games?
first of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. at the end of august, 20xx, when i decided to come to beijing for study, my friends hel* * **rewell party for me. they said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in beijing, and then in 20xx, we shall go to visit you during the olympic games. i laughed and answered: ok, no problem!
time flied and 2 years passed. now i am a graduate. my teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? go back home, stay in beijing, or go to some other places? and i always answer: i will stay in beijing. i make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: i've fallen in love with beijing! i'm eager to welcome the coming olympic games together with my fellow countrymen, and i wish i could do something for the olympics & for the city.
as we know, beijing will host the 29th summer olympic games in 20xx. as a chinese, i think many people are thinking: what we can do for beijing olympic games. most of us are not athletes, we cannot take part in competitions directly; we are not officials either, we don't need to do the preparatory work. we are only ordinary people, what we can do!
there are still so many things we can do! for example, for me, i am a graduate majoring business english. as far as i am concerned, i will keep on learning english hard, and apply for being a volunteer. i will use english to serve the games together with other volunteers. and also, as a businessman at that time, i will avail myself of the great commercial opportunities that the olympics brings to us, make more efforts to offer my contribution to the growth of our national economy.
and for all of us, with the goal to host a "green olympics", we shall plant more trees, grass & flowers. don't waste water. in order to alleviate the problems of air pollution & traffic congestions, we shall take buses & subways more. with the goal to host a "people's olympics", and in order to make our olympics more attractive and to make our beijing more beautiful, we shall help everyone we meet who needs help, we shall abide by traffic rules, don't smoke in public and no spitting. the most important way for our chinese to support our beijing olympic games, in my opinion, is to work hard on our duties.

honorable judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:
it is a great honor and pleasure to be here on this beautiful and wonderful sunday evening to share with you my sentiments about life and passion about my homeland.
as we known, our ancestors have made great miracles on this fertile land, and we are still making miracles. who can ignore the facts, that we have established ourselves as a great nation in the world, that we have devised our own nuclear weapons, that we have successfully sent our satellite into space, that our gnp ranks no. 7 in the world, that the 29th olympic games will be held in 20xx? it is true that we have experienced plunders by other nations, we have experienced wars. but based on such ruins, there still stand our nation china, unyielding and unconquerable.
an american tourist said:“ china has a long history of 5,000 years, but the us just has a history of 200 years. 5,000 years ago, china took the first lead in the world, but now it is the us that is leading. ”my heart was deeply touched by these words. yes it is true that we are still a developing nation, but it does not mean we can despise ourselves. we have such a long standing history, we have such abundant resources, we have such intelligent and diligent people, we have enough to be proud of. i think we have enough reasons to say proudly: we are sure to take the first lead in the world in the future again, for the problem is big, but our ambition is even bigger; our challenge is great, but our will is even greater.
about personality, especially the youth, i think it is not a time of life, it is a state of mind. it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knee, it is a matter of will, a quality of imagination, a vigor of emotions. youth means a temperamental predominance of the courage. at the same time, i remember an old chinese proverb: one minute does farm work, one minute harvest. i think we should make good use of everyday, so that we can achieve great success and our country will gain the prosperity.
everyone here, let us find the confidence to conquer our limitation and embrace the new challenges. let us contribute our efforts and create a glorious future for our homeland.
